Our wedding ceremony will be held at Château de Chenonceau at 4:00 in the afternoon, with a formal reception to follow on-site.
Attire: Black-Tie Optional
The evening's festivities will include:
* A short but disgustingly sweet ceremony in Diane de Poitier's garden.
* Wine Tasting in the Castle wine Cellar
* Tour of the Castle
* Cocktail Hour
* Gastronomical Dinner served at Chenonceau's l'Orangerie
* Dancing and Revelry
We will provide round-trip shuttle service from the hotels in Amboise to the wedding festivities. To accommodate both the "Party-Hearty" and the "Party-Super-Hearty" crowds, we have scheduled two return-shuttle-runs, tentatively scheduled to leave the castle at midnight and 2 a.m.
It is also possible to take a cab or an Uber independently, if you forgot your dancing shoes or your A-Game and wish to retire earlier.
Visit the castle on the web: Chenonceau
French dinners are long, but the receptions are are even longer. Expect a solid 1.5 hour, multi-course meal. Try not to come with ants in your pants.
Don't worry, there will be plenty of time for dancing. In fact, the idea of a 4-hour reception (the standard in the states) would be blasphemous to the French. This reception is a marathon, not a sprint.
We would like our guests to have the opportunity to tour the castle. We understand that weddings have a tendency to drive our friends to drink and they require libations immediately following the ceremony. We also know that if we opened the bar at 4:30 these same friends would never leave it. The wine tasting is your opportunity to quench your thirst before taking time to explore the castle.
After you have gained a little culture, we invite you to join us for a cocktail hour in the green garden in front of l'Orangerie Restaurant. Walk, don't run.
We will move inside for dinner and dancing.
I encourage you to use the guestbook or comments section when you submit your RSVP to note your favorite music tracks and beverages of choice, so we can have the bar stocked and the music pumping all night. After all, this may be our wedding, but just as importantly, this is your vacation! Help us make it memorable for us all!
Our rehearsal dinner will take place at the Chateau de Nitray, an authentic Touraine castle and vinyard. We will take a guided tour of the castle, learn about the wine making process and enjoy a guided wine tasting, before eating a rustic and hearty French feast.
We invite our guests to stay in the neighboring town of Amboise, which offers increased amenities and accessibility. Amboise can be reached by train direct from Paris in about 1.5 hours, and is a great base from which to explore the many castles of the Loire Valley, including the Chateau d'Amboise and Clos Luce, which are within walking distance from the hotels below.
We have selected 3 hotels at various price points for our guests which are all in a 3 block radius. Our wedding falls on a holiday weekend so we encourage our guests to book their accommodations as soon as possible.

An economical option, with simple but adequate rooms starting at 54 euros a night (using promo code Renee2018). Please note this hotel does not have A/C, although, temperatures in the Loire Valley mid-may are usually quite mild and so it shouldn't be necessary.

I am very excited to offer another lodging option, which is located in between the other accommodations suggested.
Stay like modern royalty at Au Charme Rabelaisien. After closing for extensive renovations, this 18th century mansion has reopened as a 4 star luxury boutique hotel offering a blend of modern conveniences and historic charm. Each of the 10 rooms are uniquely decorated and sumptuously appointed with Louis XVI period furnishing and large spa bathrooms. .
The grounds boast a heated pool, garden, and spa.
Hint: I have opted to cancel my reservations at Le Clos d'Amboise to stay in this charming hotel right next door, with all of the charm, at a more reasonable price point. Most importantly, from our initial interactions, they have been more accommodating to us and our guests, than their neighbors, Le Clos d'Ambnois. Au Charme Rabelaisien was closed for renovations when we initially scouted hotels in 2015 so I feel fortunate to have this option "pop up" to fill our need.
***Please note, there is a $15 resort charges at this hotel***
The nearest International Airport is Paris, Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).
There are Direct flights on United from Washington Dullas (IAD) - it is also possible to use your Chase Ultimate Rewards (Sapphire) credit card points to book an award ticket. You will want to confirm availability for your preferred dates before transferring UR points to United.
Low cost airline, WOW Air offers flights from BWI for under $400, but beware of add-on fees.
If you fly to Paris from another destination in Europe, Orly (ORY) (which is to the south of Paris and serviced by EasyJet) is an equally good option. If you are considering flying Ryanair, it is worth noting that they use Beauvais Airport, which is rather inconvenient as it requires a 1.5 hour shuttle bus to the northern outskirts of the Paris Metro.
French Railway Site in English: http://www.sncf.com/en/passengers
From Paris, direct trains depart frequently from Paris Austerlitz. Tickets start at 15€ ($20) There are 2-3 Direct Trains per day at the following times: 7:25 am, 5:33 pm, 6:37 pm
Trains can be taken from Montparnasse Station as well but will require a connection. These trains are much more frequent and tend to be a little more expensive
****NOTE: when booking trains online, you will not be able to have them sent to you because you are supposed to use the rail europe site, but you will find that the prices are almost 2x expensive. In order to benefit from the rates on SNCF.com you will have to opt to pick up your tickets at the station. Unfortunately this is a little inconvenient, because US credit cards do NOT work at the automated machines, so you will have to wait in line at the ticket window and deal with an actual person. You will also NEED to have the credit card you used to book the tickets.******
If you are coming straight from the Charles de Gaulle airport, you can take a train from the airport station "CHARLES DE GAULLE 2 TGV" and reach Amboise in 2 hours with one connection. (about 30€)
Alternatively, if you would like to visit the many castles in the Loire, you may opt to rent a car. It takes about 2.5 hours to drive from Paris to Amboise by car.
Remember if you are flying to Nice to spend the week in the south of France with us, we are flying out of ORY (Paris Orly) not CDG, so make sure you indicate on your reservation that you will be returning the car to ORY.
A shuttle will be provided to and from Chateau de Chenonceau, where the Wedding Ceremony and Reception will be held.
